Charles A. Dranguet, Jr. About the Book The history of Pass Manchac and the basin of Lake Pontchartrain. For more than 35 years, the authors have been teaching history at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, only a few miles from the northern entrance of the Manchac Swamp. Over this period of time, the historians have made countless forays into the swamp and the waters of the region, fishing, shrimping, and exploring. This modest book is more than a historical publication for the professors. It is, indeed, a labor of love.
